Sunbeam radio picks up everything but the rent !

I recently installed a Sunbeam Bendix AM radio in my Tiger. Works like a champ on the bench but installed it is totally a mess. The ticking of my Smiths clock comes right through the speaker ! Is almost as loud as the program I am trying to listen to. I have the radio grounded and am using the # 4 position on the ignition switch as my hot lead. Any ideas ????

Well, I surrounded one with 2 layers of tin foil shielding once and it all worked 90% better, but then there was this heat problem (duh).
