Besides for having a Tiger I also am lucky to another hobby car ('70 Ford). It pinged like crazy. Timing adjustment did nothing nor did race fuel. Then someone suggested the distributor.
I am far from a mechanic so I bow to others in the field. To make a long boring story short.
I sent the dizzy to Tim O'Connor. Noted Ford distributor guy. He wrote and said the poor thing was very sick and needed help.
Got it back today. The car has never run so good and the ping is long gone. I also have low end torque that wasn't present before.
So I will send him the stock Ford Tiger distributor since I'll bet it's never had a tune up in 46 years. Does the Tiger ping? nope, but I bet with Tim's help the power will improve.
