This looks to be a very nice and original car that was just listed on ebay
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Othe...8294596?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item3f0ba4e144

I've noticed a couple of people posting that they are looking to buy a tiger and this would be worth looking at.

Michael K. and others would probably know but was the red interior an option?
It's hard to imagine that someone that only drove the car 30,000 miles in it's entire life would go to the trouble of doing a color change to the interior.

Check out the original tool roll.

Bob

I may be wrong but did'nt Tigers have the metal covers over the softop. The later vinyl cover was on the series V alpine. It also seems to have GT door trims and seat trim.

Steven,

The MKI's had the metal tops. When the Tigers went to the corss over body (same as SIVa alpines square bonnet and doors) they also acquired the GT interior trim for doors.

This is an early MKIA Tiger, cross body car with round boot, but has the fresh air vents and vynil hood bag of the SV alpine.

All MKIA/MKII Tigers had the vynil soft top bag setup and GT interiors.

As for this car, is really interesting, looks quite stock and original.

I thought by MKIA this car would have had the black interior, but the early IA cars could have the red interior on a white car (that was a factory colour combination on the early tigers and alpines). The door trims look very original and the interior looks very tidy.. perhaps orginal door trims and the rest of the interior was replaced? The rear shelf is carpet loosely fitted by the look which is not right.

A few other things of note.. the soft top looks to be an original one, has the light grey interior and even has the small clips on the skirts that attach to the rain gutter.. both things you dont see on cars that often. It also looks to have the original demister hoses hanging down not modern corrigated replacements.

The seller says mathcing nu,bers.. dont know if that means he has run them past norms records, but we all know that the VIN and JAls have nothing to do with Diff, Engine and Box numbers on these cars, only the ledgers would indicate if they were original to the car.

I'd love to see more and higher res pics of the car.

What is the Tiger Registry? I've heard and read this from several sellers.

Is it the number from the factory logs? Explain please.

Yes, the "matching numbers" comment is thrown about all time. More sales mumbo jumbo...............

I have asked the seller to direct me too a Tiger Registry in order to find the car he is selling.

P.S.
I notice now the seller/dealer has deleted his statement of the Tiger being on a "Tiger Registry".

So, there you have it.

They just never stop.

"Engine and transmission matching"

Hey Mike

The car might not be TAC'd (yet) but still may very well be genuine so well worth a propper look at to be sure?

Could be a nice honest car for someone and I know you want another;)

Sold for just under $36K. I wasn't sure where this was going to go. I did as much investigation as I could without going to see the car.

I think the car was bought right since it appeared no test drives were allowed so you wouldn't know if the drive train functioned properly.

The element of the unknown kept the price in line. I was diggin' on the red interior.

From what I've been told this is from an estate collection of 100+ cars that were stored indoors in No. Ca. and that the car is all original (paint, tops, engine trans, interior etc.) HOWEVER, can somebody please comment on the wheels as I am new to the Tiger world and do not recognize these as originals.

Also, I will be having the car trailer-ed down to the Los Angeles area and would like to have it gone through by a certified, knowledgeable Tiger mechanic...any recommendations?

Thanks for the help.

Congratulations on your purchase and I add my welcome to the one Duke has extended!

While I do not recognize the wheels on the car, I do recognize the one in the trunk as an original steel wheel.

Just a heads up note to add. It is highly likely that the wheel nuts that are holding on the alloy wheels are different from the factory nuts. Different angle conical taper as has been discussed in earlier posts here. Hopefully you got a set of correct factory nuts as part of the purchase. You will need them to safely mount the spare if you get a flat in one of the tires on the alloy wheels.

Again, best wishes for a lot of enjoyment with your Tiger. Cheers, Gene

The closest I can come too on the wheels is Cosmics.

Welcome Dan. I think you did just fine on that car. Looking forward to some good pictures when you get it home.

Where in SoCal?

That White Tiger looks to be a very nice car. The wheels are cosmic alloys from the Uk, they are good quality lightweight alloy wheels from the late 60's early 70's, you sometimes see fitted to sunbeams but were generally found on ford escorts (same PCD as the sunbeams). The car would roginally have steel wheels with tri rings and hubcaps, and in the states you have 2 types of optional LAT wheels, 70 and 9.

I'm sure all on the board would love to see more pics. The car looks very original (the softop really caught my eye, looks like a factory itme and even had the little clips to secure it to the drain channel) And it looked to possibly have the orignal servo hose with stripe on it (though if it is has faded from yellow to a greyish colour)

I'm not 100% sure the paint is all orignal as the "SUNBEAM V8" sheilds no longer have the black paint on their backings.. so wondered if they may have been removed at some point for paint? The carpet on the rear deck looked as though its not the factory item (or has been refitted incorrectly?)

Overall though its a very nice looking tiger thats seems to be very stock unmessed with, i'm sure that it will be a great car and hopefully you will active within the local tiger community as im sure it would be most welcome .

Congrats on the new Tiger. I think the cosmic wheels look great...but I am a bit biased. I have Cosmic alloy wheels on my Tiger, although slightly different design. I use them most of the time but also have the factory steel wheels when I want a more original look.

Thanks all for the warm welcome! As soon as I have the car in hand I'll post better pics. I'm located in Encino for any locals nearby! After another discussion with the seller it appears that there were some small modifications to the carburation by LAT upon arrival. The car was then owned by a jaguar dealer in Az. Who sold it to this collector about 20-25 years ago. Since then it has been driven very little. The current seller says he's put about 25-30 miles on the car and says everything works, drives well and is all original.
I happen to be an alfa guy who has always loved Tiger's. My 64 2600 spider shares a similarity of lines but I'm really looking forward to the difference in power. My plans are to keep it as original as possible while also cleaning it up a bit. As I said before, any and all comments, opinions and advice is welcome, especially if you are here in L.A! I need a good reliable mechanic to go over it......recommendations?
Thanks

Hi Dan,

Welcome to the the forum and congrats on the Tiger.... These cars are fairly
simple to work on but maybe just a tad tight in places !!! I would
recommend this place as a place to start...http://www.dalesresto.com/newsusp.html Dale will be able to
tell you what you need to make it road worthy.
