Indy, we came, we saw, we conquered...
Indy is in the history books!
Here it is:
I took the pole for the first race.
Tom Sakai was second.
I diced with race winner Chris MacAllister in his D Jag ( tell me again, how much is that thing worth?)
It WAS the best seat in the house!!!
Following the Jag and seeing it pushed hard, often on 3 wheels, was as good as it gets in my book!
The bad news is, GoPro issues, AGAIN, DAM!
I backed off to save everything for the flag race.
Tom had his own issues, starting with the hood (bonnet?) coming uncought .....
We started near the back for the flag race.
I moved up to chase the Jag in lap 2 or so, with Tom close by.
After a few laps, I determined, as I previously thought, I didn't want to use up the brakes, and engine, it would take to overhaul the Jag.
I backed down the wick and Tom passed me.
Tom started reeling in the Jag, and TIED (down to the thousandth of THE second!) for the fastest race lap time!
BTW, the other fast lapper was in the first wave group 3.
Tom ran out of race before getting the Jag...
BUT, we DID get LITERALLY on the podium with SILVER and BRONZE...
AND, a jug ( Indy logo!) of MILK each!
Oh, AND the Saturday night festivities where about as good as they could be!
I came into this event with some pessimism, I'm STILL not thrilled with the track, at least in a Tiger, BUT we had LOADS of FUN!
AND, we are in good shape for Mid-Ohio next week! :------
