The Tiger caravan has made it to INDY!!

Now, let me just say, the trip here has given me my fill of RAIN!!

And then JUST as I get positioned in the paddock, it goes From partly sunny to raining CATS in about 5 minutes!

The good news is the forecast is for sunny starting Thurs, the start of practice.

Good to Hear You Made It There

Dan,

Good to hear you guys made it safely to Indy, but sorry to hear about the rain. Can you send some of it towards our way in SoCal - at least AFTER the Tigers United this weekend? Please continue to keep us posted on your efforts flogging the Tigers around the tracks on your sojourn.

Thanks!

This is a bit of a strange event

Tom and I are a bit green with SVRA.

And their rules for Tigers are in flux, it seems.

They have us in group 6 ..... AND group 4!

...at least in their "Book".

Last event at Sears Point we ran group 6.

This event has us in group 4...?

The good news is group 4 has only 9 cars!

Group 6 has 57!!!!!!

However, group 6 is broken into 2 run groups

And group 4 runs with group 3, the CP cars and there are only 14 of them....

So, we'll see how things work out.

BTW, it DID stop raining, late in the afternoon.....

F1 Tiger.....

NOT!

Well, I guess we run the F1 track.

Not having run it, it looks BAD for Vintage cars!

I think it would be better run the other direction.

Rumor has it the motorcycles run it the other direction, so it IS possible, I think.

Clearly, if I ran the show, some changes to the track would happen.....

SVRA Mid-Ohio info

On the weekend of the SVRA Vintage Grand Prix at Mid-Ohio the Griffith Motorcar Club will be hosting its annual Gathering of Griffith & TVRs-2016 (GOGT-16). We will be holding our (informal dress code) banquet at the Quality Inns & Suites in Bellville, Ohio, right off the interstate.
As a former Cobra owner (CSX 2072), currently owner of two Tigers (9472471/9473473) and an '65 Alpine I would like to extend an invitation for any CAT member to join us at the Saturday evening dinner if your schedule wouldn't interfere with our event.
Information and registration forms can be found at www.griffithmotorcars.com on the "GOGT" page.
Look for our group in the Paddock or at the hotel in the Grand Prix Rooms 1 & 2 hospitality suite..
Cheers,
Mike Mooney

SVRA

The British Car Showdown is in the infield at Mid Ohio on Saturday, June 25. We always have a good turnout of Sunbeams, weather permitting. We also have a car corral under TE/AE.

Mid-Ohio is the place!

Yup, it looks like Mid-Ohio will be a happening place.

Also the SAAC convention is there!

BUT, we still have the Brickyard to do....:------

Indy, we came, we saw, we conquered...

Indy is in the history books!

Here it is:

I took the pole for the first race.

Tom Sakai was second.

I diced with race winner Chris MacAllister in his D Jag ( tell me again, how much is that thing worth?)

It WAS the best seat in the house!!!

Following the Jag and seeing it pushed hard, often on 3 wheels, was as good as it gets in my book!

The bad news is, GoPro issues, AGAIN, DAM!

I backed off to save everything for the flag race.

Tom had his own issues, starting with the hood (bonnet?) coming uncought .....

We started near the back for the flag race.

I moved up to chase the Jag in lap 2 or so, with Tom close by.

After a few laps, I determined, as I previously thought, I didn't want to use up the brakes, and engine, it would take to overhaul the Jag.

I backed down the wick and Tom passed me.

Tom started reeling in the Jag, and TIED (down to the thousandth of THE second!) for the fastest race lap time!

BTW, the other fast lapper was in the first wave group 3.

Tom ran out of race before getting the Jag...

BUT, we DID get LITERALLY on the podium with SILVER and BRONZE...

AND, a jug ( Indy logo!) of MILK each!

Oh, AND the Saturday night festivities where about as good as they could be!

I came into this event with some pessimism, I'm STILL not thrilled with the track, at least in a Tiger, BUT we had LOADS of FUN! :)

AND, we are in good shape for Mid-Ohio next week! :------

INDY

You should enjoy Mid Ohio. It's a fun place to drive. The forecast calls for some rain on Sunday and hot. Typical Mid Ohio weather.

GREAT Video

There is a great short video from the first lap of the group 4 race.

It's on Facebook, the SVRA page.

It shows the D Jag DOING it's thing on 3 wheels and the REAL drifting!

It's in slow-mo with the Tigers in hot pursuit!:)

At some point I MAY find a link and edit this.

I have no idea how long it will be available.

SVRA has an APP that is FREE, they have a Facebook tab that takes you there.

That is how I got there.

Try this: https://www.facebook.com/sportscarv...6198526202623/658988957590241/?type=2&theater

Or this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0aYX0MGmkNI

Also, there is an video of me taking Tom's Tiger through Tech "a tour of tech inspection at IMS."
