Steve Ralsten and I met this morning in San Clemente. We went down to see the Sunbeams race (Saturday) at Coronado in the Black Tiger and parked in the corral with Dan Mc,s Mk II.
Steve Alcala's '62 Sebring Alpine raced again for the first time in many many years. Perfectly restored and ran well!
Saturday's Group 7 included Tigers of Tom Sakai, Dale Ak... , and John Morton driving the Sports Car Forum Tiger of Buck and Claudia Tripple. Dale and John battled the early laps with Dale ending up in second and I think John took third. An incident on the final lap
(I was there and did not see it?, not alone) may have dropped Morton a place or two but I think he finished third. Not sure if he will race on Sunday, day to day as they say in other sports.

Sunday at Coronado
Dale drove a great race and finished 2nd overall. Tom finished around 6th, about 15 seconds behind Dale after 15 laps. (Tom was estatic about the set-up Dan Walters installed in Tom's Tiger for this race.) We kept our Tiger in the pits, having rearranged the sheet metal around the headlights during Saturday's Qualifying Race.
After the Sunday race we moved from the runways to the gangway to the Hanger Deck of the LHA Makin Island for awards and speeches. Steve and Jane Alcala's Sebring Alpine was singled out as one of the more spectacular cars at the event. (Congrats Steve & Jane!)
...Followed by the tow home.

The link above is Video, sound and data recorded in the Sunday race at Coronado Speed Festival which included BP Tigers. The camera car is a GT350 which happens to be gridded near Tom Sakai so the yellow Tiger is in the front view for a few laps.
There is a lot going on and you may not appreciate the G loads from in front of your computer but this is what the "track" at NAS North island looked like from a race car. Busy!

I have a few Car Corral passes. Send me PM if you will use one and I will see you there Saturday at least.

Driving to Coronado
I will be driving to San Diego for the races Saturday and returning same day. If you are driving down and would like to have a wingman send me PM. Same if you want to hitch a ride from San Clemente in my currently empty passenger seat. Top down of course.
