The goal of this page is gather in a single place information applicable to US contributors about processes for donating to the Rootes Archive Centre Trust in Wroxton, Banbury in the UK.

The Rootes Archive Trust is a Charity registered in the UK. (Charity Commission for England and Wales number 1108882) It is not a 503(c)(3) US Charity.

Direct contributions can be made via PayPal to the Archive’s Treasurer, Matt Ollman, at matthewollman@rootesarchivecentre.org.uk
or to the Archive's direct PayPal donation page: https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=A29DFFYQ6NHKN&source=url

Checks, are the least preferable method since they incur both a currency conversion charge and an additional administrative charge,
Checks can be made out to the Rootes Archive Centre Trust, can be mailed to the Trust at
The Rootes Archive Centre Trust
Rootes Heritage,
Unit 15 Apollo Office Park,
Ironstone Lane,
Wroxton,
Banbury.
OX15 6AY

Direct Payments to Banks incur a currency conversion charge in the UK.
Direct payments can be made to the Archive’s bank account.
Bank: Lloyds Bank
Account Number: 04179040
Sort Code: 30-97-41
BIC: LOYDGB21063
IBAN: GB49 LOYD 3097 4104 1790 40

Another method to contribute to the Trust is to route it through the Anglo American Charitable Foundation, a US 503(c)(3) non-profit tax deductible charity who will deduct a portion of your contribution ($100) and donate the remainder. (EIN 43-2031982) https://www.anglo-americancharity.org/contact-forms/

Tax wise, this may make sense for those making large donations and who itemize their deductions.
An additional advantage of using this service is their very low charge for currency conversion.
To donate, print Anglo American donation form (PDF below), fill it out, then mail it with your check to the address on the form. You'll receive a receipt of the transaction which can be used for tax purposes.

Anglo American can also route Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCD) directly from an IRA of a person older than 70½ to the Trust, regardless of whether the donor itemizes or simply claims the standard deduction. (Please check with your tax advisor for the applicability to your particular situation.) The tax advantage of making a QCD is no income taxes would have to be paid as would be required for other types of IRA distributions. This is especially attractive to those who must take Required Minimum Distributions (RMD) from their IRAs as it can satisfy a part or even all of that requirement.
