I'm selling my 66 Tiger. This fabulous, low-mileage "Survivor" is no question one very special example that has escaped most of what its brothers and sisters have suffered during the last 50 years.

Little of its "originality" has been changed since it and seven siblings rolled from the assembly line on Wednesday, September 29th, 1965. This car still wears its original Carnival Red code 39 paint and all original interior. Just about everything except tires are original. The exhaust, clutch and even spark plug wires are the same ones that it rolled off the factory floor with. The roll bar was hand crafted and installed by the selling dealer back in 1968.

This car was purchased new April 10th 1968 from Colony Imports Limited Inc. and remained with the same owner until I bought it in 2013. Purchase price when new was $3,300 and after a $1,300 down payment resulted in a monthly payment of $64.79 for 35 months.

I’ve done little to this car other than give it a good polish. The paint isn't perfect but considering it's 51 years old looks great. The brake servo, clutch slave cylinder and carb was rebuilt but other than that I’ve just enjoyed it.

I’ve had 300 hp Tigers but this is the most fun of them all. There’s nothing like driving a car that is the same as it was intended to be the day it rolled off the factory floor. With just over 45,000 miles on the odometer the engine starts right up and idles perfectly. It has a great sound….not too loud. Whether driving around town or on the freeway you can still hold a conversation. The seats and interior are in great shape too. There is some fading on the carpet but it still looks great. All gauges work including the clock. The trunk contains the original tool roll and the original vent tube is still connected to the battery. Battery is a modern AGM type with Lucas markings. Tires are new “correct” bias ply whitewalls. How often do you see a Tiger with the original hubcaps and wheels?

Original “Survivor” Tigers are few and far between. This may be your last chance to own a Tiger that remains as if it rolled off the assembly line yesterday. The car can be seen in person in Morgan Hill, CA 408-593-7375

Price is $85,000

Hi Doug,

Sorry to see this, but someone's going to get a great car. It's a PERFECT example of originality, down to the hose clamps. Thanks again for letting me come look it over and good luck with the sale!

Thanks Jon. If it doesn't sell I'll be stuck with a good car.

Doug,

Beautiful and important car in regards to a record of what they were like new. It appears an early 1a, amazing to see it sat at a dealer till '68 before sale! Must have been slow going on the sunbeam front.

Thanks Michael. I wondered about it sitting on a lot until 1968 too. His previous car (a MKII) was wrecked by the dealer while out partying. Took out a huge section of guardrail and demolished the car. I did manage to get the tool kit and jack from his MKII. That was all that was left of it.

If anyone needs verification, I saw this car at an STOA BBQ a couple years ago - beautiful example of the Sunbeam marque.......
