shift boot replacement

What is the best/easiest/only way to replace the shift boot. So far haven't found any easy solution.

I may have done it the hard way but I unbolted the entire shifter. Once on the bench take the ball off, then I took the boot and placed it in a pot of hot water, then with a hair drier keep the boot hot, then the wife and I worked the boot over the reverse T bar. Not pretty but it worked.

Take off the knob and stretch the boot over the t handle one side at a time. It will go it just scares you. Stretching, its what rubber does.........
