I figured I would follow the previous attempt to to find a clock with a request of my own. I am looking for a Smith's CE 3030/00 clock for my Mk1. I know they are very hard to come by...but you never know unless you ask and I have pretty much looked everywhere else.

If you are not sure about the 3030/01 it has the 3 & 9 sideways, red hands, adjutment knobs on bottom, and is negative grd. Rootes Part No. 1228949.

I'll buy whether working or not...price dependent upon condition.

Thx

Thanks. I just emailed volvo-guys to check it out. No go on the gauge shop I have been checking their site and on ebay practically every day for the past 2 months. They had some Smiths clocks...but not THE clock. Let me know if you hear of any other leads.

Thx,

I think you actually mean the CE3131/00 ...
I have consulted with several knowledgeable 'Rootes' specialists in the U.K. and I believe this article ... http://www.sunbeamalpine.org/index.php?categoryid=82&p2_articleid=7
is wrong and has both the applicaton and pictures reversed on the CE 3030/00 and the CE 3131/00
There is a CE 3131/00 on ebayUK right now and it has the sideways 9/3 and red hands ...

If you don't bid... I will... ;)

I saw the clock on ebay/UK several days ago. In fact, that is my question about confirming the model number. I am hesitant to bid (and have also passed on other 3131/00 models) based upon that very article you cited. At this point I do not know what is correct. What further dissuaded me was that the seller said he was selling spare parts from his Alpine...I already have a nice clock from an Alpine and I was trying to get this absolutely correct for a Tiger Mk1.

Thanks for the info, I wish I had more to go on, because between the cost of the clock and shipping this will not be inexpensive.

I think the best thing to do is cross reference the part numbers with smiths and rootes. Also IIRC the TIGER clock while visually the same as the 2194 smiths clock used in S3 and IV alpines had a different earthing?

Ya... as far as I know, all Tiger clocks are neg. earth ... they would have to be... or were there some pos. earth cars built that I don't know about...?
I've had a 2194/14 and it is identical to the 3131/00 except for the part# and pos. earth. I know that if you happen to have one that actually works, it's very easy to switch it form pos. to neg. or the other way if necessary...

Just to add a bit more.. the SAOCA article lists the 3030/00 Rootes part# 1228949 clock as being MK1 only whilst the Alpine parts list shows that same clock as original for Series III & IV and has it superceding ALL earlier clock part#'s . This is why I think the pics and descriptions are switched with the 3131/00 as I would think the 3030/00 would have to be pos. earth!
