Michele and I made it to South Lake Tahoe yesterday and checked in. Met up with some of our friends we haven't seen for awhile and enjoyed lots of conversations. Today was the autocross - held in the parking lot of a ski lodge, which is not very busy this time of the year. You could not have asked for a more beautiful location! The folks organized a tight course. The course did not look too difficult to me, but then we didn't bring my Tiger and I did not have to drive the course. Where I set up to take photos must have been one of the harder spots - saw a lot of DNFs due to missing the gates. Had a nice lunch and everything is great here. Sorry if you weren't able to make it. Here are a few photos from today:

Photo_01 - Some Tigers in hotel parking lot, w/ snowmobile (just in case)
Photo_02 - Cars lined up for tech inspection at the ski lodge
Photo_03 - Parking lot with Tigers getting ready for the track
Photo_04 - All taped up for protection
Photo_05 - Ouch - Screw in tire discovered during tech inspection
Photo_06 - First run of the day
Photo_07 - On the track
Photo_08 - Another on the track
Photo_09 - And another on the track
Photo_10 - Frustration with missing a gate

By the way, if anyone who ran their car here would like any of the photos I took, please drop me a PM with the info and I would be happy to get the photos of your car to you.

It's much appreciated, Doug

David,

Thanks for sharing the auto-x pics, looks like lots of fun. Good to see some taping up their arch lips, sand/stone blasting the lips and trailing edges of sills can certainly ruin your day.

The green car with the lat 9 wheels has an interesting side vent setup.... And the blue/white car has an interesting modern take on the front valence.

Hope to see more pics and maybe video from others

Black Car / Big Wheels

Who owns the Black Tiger with the Slightly large spoke wheels , photo #6 , first run of the day .
Sorry if this is off subject , but kinda thinking of going 17" Team III rims . If I find out how they fit on this Tiger ( Looks to be more than 17" ) , I can figure fitment on my Tiger .

Thanks , Bosspwrd -

Michael,

Yes, the taping was needed if one wanted to keep their paint job "chip-free". The parking lot used for the track was rough in a few spots. The folks setting up the track did a great job of getting a lot of the stuff off the track - using a powerful leaf blower in the worst spots and brooms in the other areas. See Photo_11. Here are some more photos of the green and the blue cars you mentioned. Since the photos have to be "dumbed down" so much to post on the Forum, I am able to crop a section of the photo and have it appear in the same resolution as the original photo posted on the Forum,

Photo_11 - Using leaf blower on the track
Photo_12 - The green Tiger, right side
Photo_13 - Close-up of side vent, left side
Photo_14 - Close-up of side vent, right side
Photo_15 - The blue and white Tiger, better shot of front lower valance
Photo_16 - Close-up of front lower valance of blue and white Tiger

Thanks for answering Bosspwrd's question about Dale's wheels. When Dale was running the course, you did not see any lean or bounce on his front end. His front suspension sure looks pretty darn solid.

Tigers United XXXVI Report - Part 2

Today (Saturday) was the Rally. The rally masters did a great job of laying out a course that took us through a lot of the surrounding countryside - up the mountains, through the passes, across meadows, etc. We got to see a lot of lovely countryside. The questions were something else, too! It looked like everyone had a great time.

These photos were taken at the start of the Rally, as the cars were lining up to take off, at 3 minute intervals. I didn't get photos of all the cars, since we also ran the Rally. Also, we were too busy trying to follow the instructions and get the answers that we did not take any photos while on the Rally.

Dave,
Thanks for the comments also thanks to Doug and Michael for theirs. Without feedback, it is hard to know if this is time well spent. I do hope you and all the other readers feel free to provide any kind of feedback - both positive and constructive - to me and anyone else who takes the time to post activities.

Tigers United XXXVI Report - Part 3 (Concours)

This morning was the Tiger Concours, held at the Paradise Park in South Lake Tahoe. We really felt sorry for the participants. While the weather has been clear but windy, there has been a ton of pollen in the air. I’m no botanist, but I think it comes from the pine trees. All the cars are being inundated with a yellow powder-like substance. This morning, Dale went to remove his car cover and shook it out. You should have seen the yellow cloud it produced! You probably can see the yellow pollen on the cars in the photos. A car gets coated just as fast as it is dusted off. A lot of work was done to get the cars presentable, only to have the yellow dust return. The park was nice, but driving or even walking across the grass stirred up more of the yellow dust and it seemed like the wind always carried it in the direction of the freshly-cleaned cars.

There were 8 Tigers entered in the Stock class, 3 in the Personalized, and 4 in the Modified. In addition, there were 12 Sunbeams parked in the Show Only area – the owners decided not to compete for one reason or another (perhaps to sleep in a little longer or gave up fighting the yellow dust). All of the cars got more than one look over – some great examples of our marque.

The first set of photos are from the Stock class. I don’t know if I will be able to process many photos of the other classes or the general photos before we have the Awards Banquet this evening over at Harvey’s Resort and Casino. I will get the others up on the Forum, but it might take a few days since we are traveling tomorrow.

Seemed Like It

Is there a 'red tiger only' wing of the hotel?

Bob,

Sharp eyes. When I posted that photo, I thought about giving it a title about only red Tigers allowed. It was odd seeing most of the red Tigers bunched up like that, which is why I wanted to take the photo. There was a wide spectrum of Tiger colors - red was not dominate by any means. I think there were at least as many, if not more, green Tigers.
