Our monthly meeting will be held September 24 at the Sports Car Club of America Solo 2 autocross at the Orange County Great Park, formerly the El Toro Marine Corps Air Station. Due to local real estate development, the runways at El Toro are nearly gone and this is the last SCCA autocross scheduled there. If you wish to autocross your car, register at www.solo2.com. Tigers and Alpines run in Historic 1 (HST-1) class. General information, tech, and how-to guidelines are at www.solo2.com/newcomerinfo.htm. For runs for $35 in advance, $45 at the event. Also, SCCA annual membership or one-day membership for $15 is required and covers liability insurance. Arrive no later than 11:00 a.m. for tech inspection and course walk. As usual this is a run/work event. Due to the lack of affordable venues to have our own events, this is the best and easiest way for C.A.T. to continue our tradition of autocrossing and last chance to use the runways at El Toro.
There is no charge for spectators or C.A.T. members not participating in the autocross, so everyone is welcomed to come and cheer on their favorite Tiger or Alpine and stay for the meeting. We will hold our meeting during the lunch break, usually around 1:00 p.m.
To get to the autocross location, exit from I-5 at Sand Canyon Road, north bound. Immediately after the freeway overpass, turn right onto Marine Way. Then turn left at Skyhawk Street. The entry gate to the runway/autocross course is about 1,000 feet, on the right.
