Lookin' Good!

Steven,
Thanks for posting the photos of your car as it nears the finish line. In the pictures, it looks like the color is black. That light blue interior looks sharp against the black paint job. You must be getting very anxious to get this beauty out on the open road! Good luck in finishing it up.

David, iirc it's a Porsche dark metallic blue, you can sort of see the blue tinge in the farside rear guard in the first picture.

Steven, are the door trims and kick panels just in for test fitting at the moment?

The left door trim is fitted, kick panels to go. did not dare to do the right door while the tiger was on jacks, the bench vice was to close to the door.
The major delay has been the mods. The Tiger has a Mazda Miata power steering rack. The front brakes are pergeot brembo and the rears are mazda mx7. The motor is a 5 bolt 289 with alloy heads and roller rockers The gearbox is a toploader with a wide ratio gearset and a very low 1 gear as a holeshot
It has the rear torsion steup that I have to finish. The interior has mazda MX5 seats retrimmed to match the light blue trim. It has a digital speedo that uses GPS or a sensor on the tailshaft to calculate the speed.

I still have to work out fitting the handbrake to the mazda rear brakes, if anyone cane help it would be nice.

Oops I forgot another big part of the build, thanks to the CAT forum the Tiger now has a 2.18 rear end with a LSD fitted. This option, together with the changes to the toploader means 4th gear will be overdrive, this will be good for highway cruising without the costs of a 5 speed.

Steven, you can also use a trans mounted sender like this one... the hole in the toploader has to be plugged anyway ;) I use a similar one on my T5 and electronic speedo . I'm curious if you used the Toyota electric pump or managed to fit a belt drive one...?

Oh well, its a long build by myself. Fluids are in, oil pressurised without starting. Cooling fluid in, some leaks to fix. Fixed leaks and was told to pressure test fluid, oops some more leaks, now fixed and holding pressure. Good. It is bloody hot where I am and hope to start the Tiger after 30 plus years soon

It is now on the road and very happy with it first long run behaved well untill I ran short of fuel and had to put in horrible 91 with 10% ethonal. The Tiger spat the dummy and it was a challemge to get home.

So now it has 600KLMs on the motor, Took it to an expert local shop that specialises in race cars. they had it for a day, found all the problems. On the Dyno it puts out 200HP at the rear wheels. I am happy with that it is not a race car it is a driver. After I picked it up it was a great drive home. Idles very well, accellerates like a rocket and all in all makes me a very happy man.

In the end, it's all about the fun. I still like the smile on owner's faces when they first take their restored critter thru the gears.
