Manifold - valve cover - reconditioning

I am cleaning (bead/sand blasting) my Edlebrook manifold and Tiger valve covers. I was wondering after this is done is it best to “coat” them with some type of “clear coating” or just leave them as is?

Any suggestions, guidance or discussion would be welcome.

Thanks, - Doug

Often the clear coats yellow with heat and fumes. There are some paints that give a "fresh cast" finish that might be worth looking into.

Assume you are polishing the raised areas of the LAT tiger valve covers?

media blasted aluminum

All of our Tiger aluminum parts were media blasted and either clear coat powder coated or chromate powder coated and polished

(edelbrock calls it endurashine). Its a ceramic powder coating most often used on header. No yellowing ever our 1959 Chris Crafts aluminum was coated 8 years ago and is beautiful. Greg

Intake refinishing

Hi Dan, are you trying to get rid of scratches and marks? If so there is another way.

The main goal is to make the surface smoother and less receptive to dirt.

Hopefully, easier to keep clean, without a full blown coating.

Intake

One of mine has been powder coated. When there is gas that stains the intake that leaks from carb, it is easy to clean up with a bit of brake clean. Sounds like this is what your looking for.

I polished and painted mine. Some final clean up and I can reinstall them. It was a fun project.

AmPro process

Has anyone had an Aluminum Intake manifold Tumble/Vibrate deburred?
The Machine shop I use sends out heads, blocks and aluminum inakes for cleaning. The process is a heat, tumble and blast which is with an AmPro machine. Aluminum Intakes look great after. Blocks and heads are clean inside and out no scale. He uses a place north of Chicago.
