Another great TU, the pollen was a bugger but otherwise a nice event. Good to see some CAT members there and catch up, and ran into some old friends too. Here are a few pics.........

Once again thanks again for sharing all the photos, comments and overview of the meeting. You all were our eyes and ears. How many total cars were there and when where is the next TU?

Cheers - Doug

I think there was roughly 30 cars at the show Sunday, and I heard that next year it will be held in Santa Maria. With that being central in California I would expect a bigger turnout as it's close to both north and south.

You guys should hold the next show in Kansas City. Central US you know.

Great Event

Bruce had the best dressed Tiger in the yellow pollen.

Dave has done such a fine job on reporting will add some little details later.

One of the best things about going to a United is getting to know our Northern STOA guys and hang with your pals and play with their toy's :D

oh and Note to self, if Cal Fire says possible road closures know that possible means something like 99% in the great dry West. :O

Doug,

There were 8 Tigers entered in the Stock class, 3 in the Personalized, and 4 in the Modified. In addition, there were 12 Sunbeams (11 Tigers and 1 Alpine)parked in the Show Only area. There may have been more Tigers at the hotel that did not make it to the park for the Concours. At the hotel, the Tigers were scattered around different lots and never lined up side-by-side, so the total Tigers at the TU might have been more.

At the Awards Banquet, it was announced that CAT is in negotiations to hold TU XXXVII in Santa Maria. Watch for more information about it as things develop.

Stealth mode

There were cars that slipped into the scene got TACed then off they went. In stealth mode means on or in trailers and a couple I saw parked never had the tarps or covers come of even though they were project cars.
Mother nature and the yellow pollen was intense to say the least but it kinda looked like gold dust on a black car. Guys also pulled in to sell parts and then slipped away. Guys that I have traded parts with and tradesmen of the marque were also in attendance, really good to put faces to the names. Mrs. W. also had fun and made some new friends and that alone was worth the price of admission:)

Worth the trip

Thought I'd chime in with a quick one here.
First time attendance to a TU for my partner and I and it was well worth the trip. I can second the comments made by David, Bruce, Warren et al and think that David's images captured the scenery and cars really well. Sneeze or cough whilst viewing for a pollen-like experience.

As already mentioned, the autocross venue was remarkable, as was the drive up into the Sierra to get there. Brave souls who took it on in my esteem - that accellerate into the final figure 8 looked as though the drivers were about to tip off the edge of a cliff!

The rally took us through some areas of Tahoe and surrounds that there is no way we would have seen otherwise - back streets of the South Lake area, views from the Summit, winding single lanes with whoop-de-doos through the parks, a blast across the desert floor and a great climb and descent (cresting 8000ft) to finish off. Great challenge for car and team alike.

Concours was a good show though it would have been great to have seen a few more attendees. It had some star pulling power with a beautiful MKII, Dana's barbed wire grilled "Chalker", Dale A's and Beau's stunning modified versions and others whose owners names I can't recall but who were all gracious enough to engage. The turnout for Stock Class was a treat.

The best part of course as mentioned in prior posts was meeting new people and socialising. We made some great friends, enjoyed dinners, drives and laughs. Jo and I may have received a nod for farthest afield attendees, but kudos to RW and Tonya for driving from Arkansas! and to Don and Nancy from near San Diego in their 1 owner, via the edge of Death Valley! Phew - what an effort this time of year!

Finally, a special mention to Bill Martin for loaning me his MK1 for the event. This left Bill without a drive and about all I was able to offer in return was an unwipeable grin and a noisy diff. Absolutely first class Bill - I can't thank you enough.

Thanks to all for arranging, hosting and introducing and for being all so generous with your hospitality. We'll strive to be back for next year's event.

Cheers, Tom and Jo

Nice Folks, Nice Times

Tom,
Thanks for posting. We really enjoyed meeting you and Jo and having breakfast together Monday morning, also with Nancy and Don. Hope you guys had a great time cruising over to Yosemite.

There were a lot of really nice folks that we renewed acquaintance as well as met for the first time. That is the beauty of these Tigers Uniteds. And a great big kudos go out to all the hard-working folks who made it happen!

Show Only Cars at Concours

There was an area where folks who did not want to enter their cars into the Concours could park on the grass and spectators could check out their cars. Here are some photos of some, but not all, of the cars in the Show Only category.

All downhill

From the event :( I say this cause I had a great time even though I was hobbling about pending a knee scope, and now am recovering.

Here are some of the docs that were handed out at the training seminar previous to the event and some from at the event.

This is not a complete set as I was a guest and not a participant, well except if you could call my version of the refrigerator repair man as generator repairman at the autocross I prefer Honda's:)

If someone has the class pages they used and a shot or two of the record album and some of the DVD would be awesome to post some of that.

Please note: The thumb nails were from the event and the PDF's were from the judge training seminar at Bill Martins shop.
