Oktoberfest in Big Bear starts in September. Even though we had to cancel Tigers United in September, by popular demand we preserved the arrangements for a one-day autocross In Big Bear. We have received a good response and if those who indicated interest in attending, we will have our minimum number. It has been more than 2 years since we had enough cars, so it’s time to have fun with our cars.

When: Saturday, Sept. 19, 2020.

Course setup: 7;00 a.m.
Tech inspection starts at 8:00 a.m.
Mandatory driver meeting and course walk 9:30 a.m.
First car out: 10:00 a.m.

Where: Big Bear Airport, 501 West Valley Blvd. Big Bear City, CA

Who: All drivers and spectators must be at least 18 years of age. Drivers must have valid driver’s license and proof of insurance for street licensed vehicles. In order to provide adequate physical distancing and safety around the course, only one spectator permitted with each registered autocross vehicle.

What: Sunbeam Tigers, Alpines and similar vintage British makes are welcome. Due to the tight course confines, larger, modern pony- and super-cars such as Mustangs, Ferraris, Camaros, Corvettes, etc. are discouraged.

How: Each driver and spectator must register, prepay and sign waiver online at

How much: $60 per driver includes BBQ lunch. Spectators are free but must register in advance. BBQ lunch for spectators: $20.

General Rules:

In order to speed check-in and minimize unnecessary physical contact, all drivers and spectators must complete online registration and waiver in advance of arrival and bring printed copy to be signed at check in before tech inspection.

Mandatory drivers meeting at 9:30 a.m. Must be present for meeting or cannot drive. This is a run/work event. Participants must be available to work the course when their group is not running.

This is not a contest. There are no prizes. The only competition is with yourself.

Tech inspection requirements:

Snell SA or SM 2005 or later helmet in good condition
Seat belts in good condition.
Loose objects and floor mats removed
Firm brake pedal
No steering free play
No wheel bearing free play
Dual throttle return springs
No fluid leaks
Battery securely retained
Spare tire firmly anchored or removed.

No loaner helmets will be available and sharing of helmets is discouraged.
Bring folding chairs and maintain proper physical separation at all times. Face coverings when not driving are strongly requested for the health and safety of all. This is a politics-free zone. If it’s a good idea to wear seatbelts and helmets, it’s a good idea to wear a mask.

For those planning to stay overnight, The Lodge at Big Bear has a block of 10 rooms for Friday night at discounted rate of $140 plus taxes and fees, first come first served until August 18. To make hotel reservations, use this link and enter 9/18 for the check in date:
