Nasty little boogers on my car are stripped out. Too bad as they were re chromed parts and are otherwise nice shape. Nice of the body shop to stuff in metric bolts.

I know Sunbeam Specialists sells a re pop set. I would prefer a nice original chrome set if possible. If you got a set laying about PM me.

Also if you have a good condition Holley that you no longer need let me know. Motor is a stock with F4b and stock exhaust so about a 600 would be nice.

Warren,

A 600 cfm carb is way oversized for a stock motor with stock exhaust, even with an F4B intake manifold. There are a couple of formulas for carb sizing.

(displacement x rpm) /3456 = CFM
(displacement x 2) - 15% = CFM

For a stock 260 running at WOT (wide open throttle) at 5400 rpm (assuming it holds together), the carb ratings are 406 and 442 CFM respectively. A stock 260 does not have the volumetric efficiency to handle a carburetor larger than that, and you rarely ever rev your engine that high, even in spirited street driving. The factory guys knew what they were doing when they selected the 465 CFM Holley 1848-1 as the optional LAT-1 carb.

Not sure

Really not sure what the block is. It has a build date of 5K14M which could be the original 65 260 or a transplant by the PO. I have not had the manifold off being a son of great depression dad "if it ain't broke don't fix it." type.

On my survey of 3 Tigers I have driven it feels like a 260 with 289 heads on it which I verified when I changed valve covers.

Lucky for me I swapped keys for a quick blast in a 289 2bbl MK2 at this weeks meeting. Pretty hard to take the CB160 back, I did try the hey we traded didn't we....

Maybe my big flat spot is the car choking on the fuel but to be fair small carbs I can rebuild and id in my sleep but not a 4bbl. Semi pro rebuilt the carb on the car now. I do not know if there is a adjustment on fuel dump like in little VW carbs. I am also unfamiliar with any id markings on my current carby. But now you got me headed in right direction.

At the last fix in with the exhaust gas analyzer our tune guru did not point and say your carb is too big for a stock motor thought it might have a mild cam but made no further comments.

Thanks

Thought of that

And we are not the first. The threaded surface is less than a 1/4 inch and it seems that drilling them may be problematic as there is not much room before the volt or the tapered tap will bottom out or poke the chrome finish on top.

If I can find a non tapered tap and get brave I will try the re tapping.

My parts cars had been picked by vultures of most of the commonly buggered bits

trunk hinges

Warren you start with a starter tap (pointed tap) finish with a bottom tap (no point it cannot go through) hope this helps good luck

There I fixed it

http://www.threadkits.com/home

Not so Mickey mouse although I only did the one side the kit has a proper sized drill, bottom tap, mortise bit for new sleeve.

Takes a little practice like anything else there is not much meat for the threads when new.

Next time I will drill a little deeper than the original thread holes were, even though the buggered design "The hardtop locating pin" suffered drill intrusion and is now visible if you look down where the pin goes in.

At the end of the day better than 200 bucks for a new re pop set of hinges.
