This forum is open for anyone to read. And anyone can join by registering which allows anyone to post in most areas.

However this Forum, which is supported by CAT, does offer certain additional benefits to CAT members. These include a special "CAT member area" which is not displayed to non-CAT members and the ability to post in the Marketplace portion of this Forum. However the Forum's software does not "speak" to the CAT club's membership data base. The Forum software must be "told" by an Administer that a particular Forum member is also a member of CAT and entitled to the additional CAT member privileges. This means an Admin has to manually check a box on that member's profile page.

For years we've asked CAT members who do not see the "CAT Member Area" displayed above the General Tiger Discussion Forum on the home page to inform an administrator. (The Forum software also displays a "CAT Member" bar on the left side of a post below the member's user name.)

We have also asked CAT Forum members to use the same email address when registering with CAT and with this Forum. That helps Admins assign CAT status without waiting to be informed. We have also asked all CAT members to make sure that their member number is entered in their Forum profile. That would also help us identify them as CAT members.

Forum Admin David Wilson has spent countless hours manually updating the CAT Member status of Forum members by comparing the email addresses and ID numbers but we frequently have incomplete data. Different email addresses could have been used or the CAT member may not have entered his CAT ID number in his Forum profile. It would be great if everyone used consistent email addresses and had added their CAT ID number to their Forum profile. The bottom line is that when data is lacking some CAT members may not enjoy CAT member benefits on this Forum.

So, again, if you are a CAT member and don't see the CAT Member Area and want to get CAT benefits, let us know. And if you have registered using different email addresses for CAT club membership than with the Forum, at the minimum you definitely should make sure your Forum Profile includes your CAT ID number. (It's listed on the mailing label portion of printed Tiger Tales.)

Please help us with this updating project.
