Hood Scoop and Such

Got back working on mounting the hood scoop. Measured, drilled, painted. After bolting it all down found out I lost the little bit of extra room from the scoop to the filter lid. Had no choice but to do some filter work in a vise to crunch the element a bit. Not pretty but got some room back. I will likely get a shorter element but sadly if it's shorter it is the wrong diameter. Spent time looking at K&N and Spectre filters only to find anything besides 2" is the wrong diameter. That is a possibly easy fix by cutting the filter to reduce the diameter, but for now the vise gets some work to smoosh it down about .25", again it's ugly but functional. Can chop the hold down stud about .25 as well. Primered and painted the scoop before it got too cold.

Could you not have slid the scoop right to the rear edge of the hood? That might have got you the extra quarter inch.

Didn't really help, and it looked odd with the flange at the end of the hood. It's not a huge deal, just going to get a slightly shorter filter, or I guess I could just run the 2" filter for the occasional times it won't be winding up to the limiter. For track use I have a different filter assembly that is really just a screen to keep rocks out and that works for that application, but for tooling around the street nice to have a filter.
