The Association of Rootes Car Clubs and the Rootes Archive Centre Trust have been jointly awarded the Preservationist of the Year accolade by The Transport Trust for the work they have done in preserving the engineering archive of the Rootes Group.

This celebrates the outstanding contribution to the cause of transport heritage preservation by the Rootes community. The award was presented by Britain's Prince Michael of Kent during the prestigious awards ceremony at the Brooklands Motor Museum earlier this month.

Speaking at the Awards ceremony the Association's Chairman James Spencer said, “This has been a long journey since we got the call in 2002 asking if we wanted to save 300,000 Rootes engineering drawings from the skip. Everyone has been committed to preserving this key part of the Rootes Group and I would like to thank everyone who has been involved over the years or who have donated to our building fund.”

(Admin note: fundraising to pay off the new building is about 3/4 accomplished. The Trust has four years to raise the remaining $72,000 that it owes to lenders.)

Buck ,

Have they thought about an annual membership? Let's say 50usd as a fellowship sponsor? Enough of those as a yearly payment and a fee donations and the archive repayment will be done.

Assume at some point it will generate capital by chargi g for access to technical drawings for repro parts.. Or offer repro parts?

Friends of the Archive

Hi Michael

Yes, there is a group called "Friends of the Archive" who as individuals support the Archive. Typically they set up a PayPal subscription to donate annually to the Archive.
