How does the rear waist roll attach/detach? Want to remove it gracefully so that I can reattach the Soft Top Boot that pulled away. Looks like the boot gets hooked via a spur of metal piercing it.

You have the top boot attachment correct. The roll is attached via spring steel clips that engage when the roll is pressed downward, clipping into a slot in the divider. Don't pull it forward or they will break. Pulling upward should release them, but the spring steel can break.

Might be work gently pressuring the roll back towards the rear when lifting to help take some tension off the spring clips
