It's with great sadness that CAT has to report the passing of Dick Barker. Dick had been a cornerstone of the Sunbeam community in the San Diego area for decades. He bought his Mark I A in 1967 and brought it to many CAT events. He enjoyed many autocross and a few open track events in his white Tiger. Dick was also one of the best competitors when it came to the Tiger quiz. Dick is best known for his long-time ownership of the Le Mans Coupe Mule. He bought the race car in the early 70s. But with his job in the Navy and the raising of a family, it would have to wait until the mid 90s for the restoration to really get going. In 1997, Dick debued his coupe at the Eureka Tigers United where history was made by having all three coupes reuninted for the first time since 1964. Dick displayed the coupe at the '97 Monterey Historics and even put some laps in at the Nor-Cal Shelby Mini Nats at Sears Point raceway. Dick will always be remembered for saving a piece of Sunbeam History. Our condolences go out to his wife Ann and his family.
