TEAE is hosting the official site for SUNI at https://sunbeamsunited.com/
What you find here is very unofficial.

To register go to https://sunbeamsunited.com/registration/
(Registering really helps our event organizers.)

The committee of representatives of the national Rootes clubs has opened the registration for this year's SUNI VII, which is scheduled for September 13-17, 2021 in Independence, MO. However, Covid still remains a lingering threat. If we cannot host a safe event this coming September, then we will postpone until next year. SUNI will comply with the CDC guidance then in effect. It is impractical for us to try to hold a "socially distanced" event - our hotel just does not have spaces large enough to accommodate our group in a socially distanced setting.

SUNI will be a 5-day event. This full 5-day registration will include an event T-shirt, admission to all activities including talks, 3 meals as well as tickets to various attractions in the Independence and Kansas City areas. Standard Registration will cost $245 for the first participant and $225 for the second participant in the same car.

We have reserved a limited number of hotel rooms which will be available on a first come, first served basis. The hotel is already accepting reservations. Our room rate of $105 per night includes a hot buffet breakfast. The room selections are wide open right now but the best rooms will go quickly and over a third of the rooms have already been reserved. https://www.hilton.com/en/book/rese...TONLINK,en,DirectLink&fromId=HILTONLINKDIRECT
(The SUNI clubs have will have to pay for the rooms that we have reserved which are not taken by attendees booking rooms through the above link. So if you plan to attend, please book through the above link and not through another source.)

In the 1800s, Independence was the starting point for 3 of the great wagon trails to the west - the Oregon, California and Santa Fe trails. These are celebrated with various sites around the town. Independence was later known as the home of President Harry Truman. His Presidential Library is a major attraction. Nearby neighbor, Kansas City is home to the world famous WWI Museum.

Claudia Trippel is the Chair of this SUNI. She has put together quite an event. It promises to draw attendees from all over the world. Our goal is celebrating Rootes Motors in a vacation type experience. She has events planned for each day and for every evening.

Tiger Authentication (TAC) will be available during the SUNI event.

Monday: This will be the arrival day for most participants (although the hotel’s event rate will be available for those who chose to arrive a bit early or stay a bit longer.) Arriving participants will pick up their credentials for the SUNI event and check-in with the hotel.

The parts room for vendors will be set up and the hospitality room will be available for visiting with old friends and meeting new.

In the evening (6pm), "Jack Stack" will cater our welcome BBQ which will be held on hotel grounds. (Zagat named Jack Stack as the best BBQ in the nation, so we are really looking forward to judging for ourselves how good “the best” really is!)

Tuesday: Tuesday will feature a scenic drive east from Independence exploring the Ozarks. We will stop for a light lunch at the Canterbury Hill Winery near Jefferson City. We will pass Whiteman Air Force Base which today is the home for the Air Force’s fleet of B-2 Stealth Bombers. (Once upon a time Doug Jennings maintained Minuteman missiles there.)

In the evening author/historian John Nikas will tell us about the history of Rootes.

Wednesday: On Wednesday we will tour Independence. This day marks the 215th anniversary of Lewis and Clark’s camping just north of the town on the return leg of their extraordinary expedition.

Independence became the starting point for three of the great national wagon trails to the west – the Santa Fe, California, and Oregon. Independence hosts various commemorative sites and tours.

The Truman Presidential Library has been under renovation for over a year and will reopen in time for our visit.

In the evening Mike Jones will talk about his experiences developing the Tiger for production.

Thursday: Thursday will start with the Autocross at an awesome site west of town and then continue into Kansas City. Some will skip the Autocross and go directly to Kansas City. All will want to visit the world-famous WWI Museum (ticket included with registration). Other KC sites that we can check out include the Steam Arabia museum, the Hallmark Cards museum, Union Station, Cable Car to Missouri waterfront.

Originally, Rosemary Smith was scheduled to speak. However she has since decided on her doctor's advice to not attend due to Covid concerns. We will be looking for another speaker.

Friday: Friday will begin with the Concours. It will be held at the Bingham-Waggoner Estate which is adjacent to the National Trails Museum. Both attractions will be available for us to visit during the concours.

Additionally, a Tiger expert will hold a session explaining the attributes of a stock Tiger. This will help educate us about the details the stock class judges are looking for.

In the evening we will have our banquet at the hotel where awards will be presented. The meal will be catered by the Hereford House. We may also hear a few words about the status of the Rootes Archives which has now emerged as the world’s preeminent Rootes organization.
