Turn signal lever

I have mostly seen the turn signal switch mounted on the left side of the steering column in photos, but have also seen them mounted on the right hand side which was the side mine was mounted on but it may have been removed at one time when the previous owner put in a 4 way hazard warning switch.
What is the correct side for a left hand drive car meant for the US market?

FYI, If you go to the TE/AE site and click on the stock Tiger concorse rules you'll find photos showing just about anything you may want to know. These guide lines were put together by members of several clubs.
