Your CAT Club is very pleased to announce we are back in production making aftermarket performance-oriented headers!

According to our records, the last sale of stainless headers was sold in April 2019 and after seemingly an eternity and a host of design and re-design issues, we should be getting delivery of the first batch later this year.

We realize this has been a long time coming and can only thank those who have patiently waited so long and in retrospect, it was a good thing to wait a bit. For a couple years during the pandemic, the cost of raw materials such as stainless steel skyrocketed, and a cost analysis done at that time would have put the price of a pair of headers at double what we are currently able to offer.

The new design is due to the amazing creative efforts of Dan Walters and the late Gary Hanks, and then pushed though production with our Parts Manager Jere Teepen. The other exciting news is that after a chance encounter at the SEMA show in Las Vegas two years ago, the rep for Hedman Hedders said that they would be very eager to work with our club and have already made a prototype and our production run is now in the queue. For those of you unfamiliar with the brand, Hedman Hedders began as a one-man shop in 1954 for mostly drag races and has steadily grown to be a major part of the So Cal car scene ever since. Now as a major manufacturer that makes so many other parts as Hedman Performance Parts we feel confident in the quality control of their product. We are also lucky that they are located very close to our parts warehouse making hands-on and in-person inspection and collaboration a breeze.

Our first batch of headers will consist of 1-5/8” primary tubes, down to a 2-1/2” collector, non-merged, made out of 100% 304 stainless steel construction for superior heat and fatigue resistance with 16 gauge tubes and hefty 3/8” flanges that attach to the heads. The collector end will be sans flanges to give the customer maximum options on attachment to their exhaust system as so many are going to v-bands and other methods in addition to the classic three bolt flange as well as keeping the pricing down. The Hedman logo will appear down on the lower end of the tubes.

For our CAT members, the price will be set at $700 per pair, plus tax and shipping, and will come boxed by Hedman for shipping. As usual, shipping charges can be avoided with in-person pickup or other arrangements made with our parts manager’s availability. We are expecting delivery in Mid December. As always, CAT Parts is exclusively reserved for CAT members with active memberships. Jere Teepen will be going through the previous request list shortly and confirming that those who had requested headers are still in the market, and then open up sale to the rest of the CAT membership.

Excitedly,

Dan MacMedan and the CAT Board and Officers.

Ever the optimist: After dealing with headers in Tigers over the decades, do these critters actually aim at the Tiger passages. Just thinking lazily .

Do you know if these headers will work with AFR 185 heads on a five bolt 289? I can be a guinea pig. Do you have a measurement from the inner flange to the outmost primary tube? I really hope these will fit. Sign me up for a pair.
