Hello -

I'm looking to replace my "rotted beyond help" stock radiator in my Tiger .
I want to run the stock fan shroud , or likes configuration . I know they are all spendy , but want to make it a one time expense , and get the right suggested
one . My motor is the real McCoy - Boss 302 , getting a re-fresh 331 stroker kit .
The car has never been wrecked / nor clipped in the front , and it a later '66 model with welded attachment mounts .
Any help is appreciated . Maybe others looking to do the same ? Can I say " GROUP BUY ! " ? ? ?

I had a Dale's in my last Tiger but it also had a custom made shroud to make it all look stock......if there is a good Aluminum one that uses the stock shroud I'm in on a group buy.

Griffin markets theirs as "exact fit". Well, they make their brackets larger than the factory ones and they hit the corner brace where the horns mount. I found out the hard way and dinged mine right out of the box. So a slight notch is all that is needed. The stock shroud fits and it is dimensionally correct.

You can buy it through Summit or call Griffin direct.

The latest version of Fluidyne radiator works with the stock fan shroud. It is a 3 row, 3 pass gated radiator.

So , is Dale's "Fluidyne a better Radiator than the "Griffin" ?

Both can fit the stock shroud WITHOUT modifications .

Costs > Dale's : $550 + shipping ( $40 - $50 , unless your local for pick-up )

Griffin : Summit Racing $502 FREE Shipping .

BTW - ALL vendors contacted for a "Group Buy" . You must purchase 10+ units , and the discount is only $20 per unit . Some VERY RUDE comments too that I can't add here were stated too !

Not sure dales fits the original shroud, the ones he used to supply would requite spacers for the shroud mounts as the core was to deep... At least on mine circa 2004.

Well ...... Its a done deal . Order up Dale's "Fluidyne" radiator ! PLUS >>>
Had an extensive chat with Dale over the latest design , and its dimension mimic the stocker darn near exact . A stock fan shroud will fit , UNALTERED , NO SPACERS NEEDED . The new designs impacts on a 3 pass design , with holds the fluid within longer for better cooling .
Dale offered me a good deal on it that couldn't be turned away from . He's a easy guy to work with , and a true asset to the Tiger community !

BTW > Dale WAS NOT one of the "Disgrunted" vendors in my quest to acquire
a "Group Buy" discount on the radiators .

Can you share the deal - if there is advantage of a group buy?

Thanks - Doug

And for those of us who are fairly new please pass on Dales contact information.

Doug - I believe that is the brand of radiator. If they give a group buy deal count me in.

I would just say this, its worth reading the cooling study done on the tiger the aluminium radiators were not as important as fan type, shroud ( sealed) and horn holes blocked. The alloy radiator comes into its own on the run, which is not really the tigers problem.

Not trying to sound like a jerk , but PLEASE back-up and re-read the post carefully .

My "Fluidyne Radiator" ( Brand name of Radiator with very good latest benefits ) that I acquire from Dale's Resto in Whitter / Colton / Riverside , Ca. area .

Dale can be contacted via the link at the bottom of the post a few back >
"tigerracer" . Talk with him as to what deal you can strike is all I can say .

NO GROUP BUY ........ is going to happen . I explained this in my prior post , and does not need to be repeated .

The 1966 Ford Bronco 15" 6 blade fan is VERY EFFECTIVE in keeping a Tiger
cool . Even with a crappy / shot stock radiator . I can attest to that !

Problem though........... word had gotten around in the Tiger world , and prices are starting to jump .

Actually the way I read it is that we need to buy 10 or more for a group buy. But sounds like Dale will work with us individually. Thanks for the info.

Fluidyne

I have a earlier Fluidyne branded unit sold by Dale to the P.O. on my MK1
the lower cross support was cut out and I would certainly hope the new version does not end up with the 1.5" blockage caused by the stock support.

Lucky for me I have a junker in the desert to replace the sins of the P.O.s , some day.

I would consider the perfect replacement one that you could dress the welds and satin paint black to pass for stock with upgraded flow and capacity.

The shop notes had a early story about a smaller additional radiator mounted below in the valence, IDR the fitment or brand tho but it sounder like a cool idea.

I have not read this study in a long time, but I feel their testing was flawed. I recall reading that the testing personel took the thermostat, put it in boiling water, at the point the temp reached 160 degrees they measured the amount the tstat opened and then soldered it at that amount open. This is not how a tstat works. The tstat opens and closes based on the temp of the motor and the amount of water flow needed to keep the motor at the temp rating of the tstat. The reason the aluminum radiators did not do as well in their tests is because the aluminum radiators back then had large tubes 3/4 to 1" wide and 1/8" thk. With the tstat soldered open the water was flowing thru the radiator so fast it could not dissapate the heat.
The copper /brass radiators with small tubes had there own bilt in restriction, albiet every different core style flows at a different rate.
Just my 2 cents.
