If anyone has or knows where to get a smaller diameter Tiger WP pully would appreciate the info - thanks in advance

You can get them from the guy in Thailand.... (Bob Straghan/Hoghead) You really do not want to increase the water pump speed anymore that that... The key to cooling is NOT increased volume... that only makes the water have less time to actually "cool" in the radiator, In fact it has been shown through multiple studies that hi flow pumps only make the problem worse.

The key is a good radiator, one that slows down the flow, instead of one that the water can just scream through. I have fit a "dimpled tube core" to standard Tiger radiator tanks. The benefits are that this radiator can be cleaned or repaired... Aluminum radiators are extremely expensive and cannot be re-cored or serviced. Basically a "very expensive" throw away part.

The other cooling options are well documented. Block off plates for the horn holes, 160 thermostat, Fairmont water pump pulley on a stock water pump. Timing set at 10-12 degrees BTDC and NO MORE. Idle speed at 900 RPM... I have a 600CFM Holley 1850 type carbie and I set the idle mixture slightly on the rich side... the leaner you go, the hotter the engine will run. I am running the LAT cooling fan, electric fans only work when the car is at a standstill. At anything over 10-15MPH it's not providing any cooling at all and is only a drag on the charging system.

Personally I recommend stock exhaust manifolds as headers dramatically increase underhood temps. Ceramic coatings do very little to lower temps, even wrapping with the asbestos type wrapping doesn't do much. I'm running stock manifolds with 2" exhaust. If you have headers and are running an Econoline oil filter, you're just overheating your oil and making it that much harder for the engine to stay cool.

As my car is a MK2 I have a factory oil cooler... this does provide a benefit. I have made oil hoses in the past to use an Alpine cooler, it shouldn't be all that hard to make hoses to suit an MGB type oil cooler.

The biggest single change I made that helped cooling was an LAT type hood. The exhaust vents were the key. An air intake scoop alone will just make the problem worse... there is still no way for the hot air to escape the engine bay. When I built my steel version and fit it I noticed an immediate drop in underhood temps of 20 degrees....

My average temp recorded on the gauge is right in the middle, or just before the middle, of the dial, even on the hottest days... even climbing mountain passes. We have 3-6 weeks of triple digit heat where I live and my car NEVER overheats.

Thanks, plenty to ponder - I am going to install the horn block off plates (project # 3,797 - currently working on proj # 20 - ha). One thing turns into 12 other. I do have one of Tom Hall's radiators and so far I am pleased with that but not may miles to fully appreciate.
