Yes, I am selling my award-winning Tiger on bringatrailer this week. If you're looking for a show car that could possibly win the stock class whereever you go, this might be your shot.

@Steven43 it's a beautiful car and seen the write up of it.

Is it titled a 66 ? I note it's a round corner cafe and ST interior so would be an early 65.

Also the door seals appear to only be on the vertical ede of the door, not wrapping around along the bottom of the door , but I not the C chanel is there for them.

Michael, here's a little info on this car that I am selling on bringatrailer.com: In 2009, during the Great Recession here in the U.S., a woman called D. W. as we were all getting ready to go up to Monterrey. He gave me the woman's number, and said that there was someone selling an Alpine, plus another Rootes vehicle. He told me to deal with it, as this was closer to where I live. When I got to her place, I saw the Alpine sitting next to a very neglected Tiger. I made her an offer on both cars, and she said she would think about it. She then visisted my shop, at which time I showed her the Sebring Alpine I used to own. She told me that her late father, who had owned the two cars would've loved to see his cars finished to this standard. She then agreed to sell her cars to me. I took the father's California pink slip and bill-of-sale to the DMV. I ended up getting the Tiger put in my name. However, the pink slip said, 1966, and that's what they carried over to me. It also said, '66 in front of the VIN, and they eliminated the B. At the time, I just wnted the pink in my name. Over the last two years, I've tried to clean up the pink here in California. It's become very difficult dealing with the DMV on such matters. Yes, it is a Mark I. I can only assume it didn't sell until 1966, and the dealers here in US put whatever they wanted on the pink.

As for the missing rubber, the reproduction rubber I bought from SS makes it nearly impossible to get a good door gap when using it along the bottom. So I eliminate the bottom, and don't drive the car in the rain. --Steve Alcala.

P.S. Please bid on my car.

..."It also said, '66 in front of the VIN, and they eliminated the B."...

I had the same thing with a former California car when I bought it from a guy in Texas!! He had to trailer it a couple of hundred miles to a DMV that had a 'stolen car specialist? there. He looked over the car and made a few calls and confirmed the the 'B' on the tag was correct and wrote a recommendation letter for a re-issue' title sighting 'clerical error' That was about 15 years ago
NCM told me he'd seen quite a few Cali Tigers with that same 'error' from when the dealers wrote up the sales.

Thanks for the background, I knew a bit about the resto from the write up, but interesting to know the car had sat of the lot that long.. I guess in some areas they really weren't selling that well.

Re the seals, too thick and holds the door out? Where are they having the rubber made? Maybe the UK ones are better? I know the repro outer window seals are a thicker and different profile to the factory ones and never quite sit as well.
You do get a bit of wind / road noise without the bottom seal.

As for "please bid"... I'd love too... But sadly I won't be able to win that bid...
Beautiful car and work by you as always... That said...if I could get one of your cars....I would have got your Sebring Alpine... That was magic.

Appearantly it sold for 70.5k. Not bad for a MkI car in a cooling down market. The actual spendings could have been more though. A very nice resto indeed. Looks like I have to restore my old grumpy MkI one day too ;-)

Don't forget that the buyer on BaT has to pay 5% on top of the selling price so the actual sale price was $3,525 more, so $74,025.00 plus shipping from California to Florida

5% Premium on top is ridiculous. Wonder what for - just for advertising ?
