Door Card Support Help

Hi,
I have a Mk 1, Original RHD that was in the US for a number of years and imported into Australia approx 2014. Approx 2004 it was on a rotisserie and had its color changed from Forest Green to White. I have removed the door cards (and everything else as I am totally refreshing the car) and I have noticed that the drivers door (RHD) has metal tags welded to the door (see attached photos) that the door cards attach to. The passenger door does not. Both doors are round cornered. Does anyone know why the tags would be on one door only. I have a mind to remove the tags as the door card does not sit well on the drivers door - keeps the door card proud of the door.

Theo, the top hats are for a GT door.. The later tigers ( square corner doors) used GT trim which requires the spacers.. They also hace deeper posts for the door handle and winder.
the round cars did not have the GT trim.

The right hand door has likely been replaced with an alpine GT door. I cant recall if someome fitted a GT trim to your car .. Did it have painted tops of the door above the door cards ( i know in ohoto it doesn't... But your door is apart) or were they covered with a trim piece with vynil?

Thanks for the update Michael. So looks like a bingle necessitated a door replacement. My car did not come with the GT trim though interestingly, i have just organised purchase of the trim and window vent base from our mutual contact in the states. Hope your well

Yup, we made a bunch along with a jig to properly locate them on the doors. Somewhere in the loft, attic or barn is a box really good at hiding ???
