This MKII unit wasn't working so I removed it and split it apart. Does anyone know if these windings look correct or have they been shifted around? This has a totally different construction than the one in my MKI.

From what I see in the Alpine Parts Manual, it appears that two different fuel level sensing units were used on Tigers. There was a switchover at B382002362. Can't say that I know what the guts look like, having never taken my sender apart.

A simple test light should verify good contact as the arm sweeps the coils. For safety design, the contact "brush" is broad enough to span more than one coil or three-ish to prevent an arc. If it actually falls between two coils, there is arc potential. Inspect carefully. Amen

Thanks. This position of the coils looks curious to me and I can't see how they were supposed to remain in place. they don't match the shape of the insulation piece they wrap around. The resistance readings are right with about 220 ohms when in the empty position, 70 at half and 22 when full.

Avoiding arcing is duly noted.
