I have a quote from Jeff Howarth in the uk for a LAT fiberglass hood. He has two available. I may buy one of them. The shipping cost is $450 for one hood and a little more for two. If anyone is interested, we could split the cost for shipment to Florida.
He charges $525 for the hood. I think this is the same hood that Sunbeam Alpine Spares in the uk sells.

Any interest from someone in the Southeast?

Hi, I may be interested in a hood. Please contact me when convenient and we can discuss. Probably a dumb question, but assuming square corners?
Thanks,

We have used Jeff's (bonnets) here and found them easy to work with and rugged. Typical fiberglass fitting required.

All hoods come with square corners. It's a nasty dusty job.
The story is "all car's are different." So it's belt sand, to fit.
Mine still moves in the hot sun.
It helps according to Dale to set the crown in the aft section if needed and inject panel glue.

When my body man fitted mine he gelcoated the inner rough side and it came up very well looks like a steel one from both sides. Also makes it that slight bit heavier so no movment noticed. He also rounded the corners for my Mk1

Mine needed trimming and some reshaping of the sides to get it to fit. I then addd back the fiberglass lip to the areas I had thinned out to get the gaps correct. The lip in the front was completely eliminated because the hood would not open with it in place. The gap required for the hood to open with the front lip in place was enormous.

Also, Jeff used metric threaded inserts for the hinges and lock so that took a while to figure outšŸ˜Š

I am pretty happy with it. I just need to paint it. I am getting close.

Dave Mcmillan purchased the 2nd hood from Jeff and I am holding it until we can meet up and he can take possession.
