FOR ALL THE EXPERTS: I recently was asked what original wheel well and rocker trims are worth in good -to-fair condition. I have no idea and although I have bought, sold and restored for many decades, this is an unknown . The only advice I could give is "it's all up to an agreeable handshake". Just curious if anyone has ever nailed this down?

The four spares that I bought a couple of years ago were in excellent condition. I think that Malcolm bought the ones still in the plastic wrap that I passed on but again these were 9/10. As you mentioned, the final price is variable and agreed upon with a handshake.

Bonus answer: Expert = Ex is a has-been and spurt is a drip under pressure. ;)

Seems the going rate. I took four arches, one eyebrow, and a grill through the Toronto airport x-ray. The young operator kept running them back and forth and then asked "Are those car parts?" His parents raised him right as I didn't think that he or his co-worker would have a clue what they were looking at.

Compared to what I have seen over the last decade, that is a fair price. Just sayin’

I would say the sill trims are the harder if the parts to acquire and remake... The wheel trims can be made from the scepter trims... The sills ones have a gentle arc and the repro attempts aren't quite right ...

Value... 10-20 years ago...when people were busy restoring the cars .... Very valuable anything mkii specific.....now the number of cars needing them is a lot less ... So up to how bad the owner wants to keep them or how desperate/not desperate the buyer is.... Either way, quoting sales numbers from a decade back isn't realistic.... Otherwise all mkii should be 200k+ and all mki 100k+ ... Things have changed

In 1968, I clearly remember buying 8 MK II trim pieces to false dress a MK 1 for $117.00 USD. I bitched about spending it then, and it DID NOT earn any more sales value at the time. Forward to the later 90's and I sold a full set for Ivy League tuition money! The market can be strange.

Randy,
That's called inflation. A good example of change is when one of my current customers and I laugh about him having a tizzy fit back in 1990 when I told him his bulk Valvoline oil was going to $2.00 a gal. The oil was 51 cents per quart. He fussed for five minutes. I still sell to him and what he pays me now per gal is far above that $2.00. I have several Rootes dealer price books for parts from the 60's. It makes for interesting reading. When you were at the United in August you should have bought one of my Rootes flat rate books. Your current labor rates may be a little higher than what is listed back in the 60's.

I'd guess the trims might only pay for a 4 week vocational training course currently đź«Ł ... You can choose if that's a massive drop in the value of the parts...or raise in the course cost... Or both.

I bought two full sets of REAL MK2 wheelarch trims 3 or 4 years ago... $10K each... Then I bought 4 sets of Humber Sceptre trims for about $1200 and made 2 sets of Mk2 trims... the one thing that you can't
cobble together is the Mk2 Grille top molding... I was able to find one for a client's car and it was stupid expensive.

The MK II "eyebrow" can be duplicated. My chrome guy tells me he can do it if we can borrow one to copy. He added it will not be cheap by any means!

when I bought the wheelarch trims I also got the MK2 eyebrow... it was $3K and pretzelled... The chrome shop made it beautiful and it still fit. Lucky me. I've come across originals made in both brass and steel...
