Hi all,
I've had suspicions that my old oem "yellow top" original Ford coil was getting a little tired. I also suspected my 28 year old HT Plug leads were getting on a bit.
So as an early Xmas present for my Tiger I replaced these components (and the spark plugs) with a Petronix coil and leads to match my Ignitor II distributor.
When things degrade slowly over many years and then you replace them...wow what an amazing difference!
It was never hard to start but now starts easily, in fact I did like the way it cranked a little before starting to get some oil moving. It almost starts too quickly now!! I have even backed off the idle a fraction. Pulling away from near stopped in 2nd (3rd or 4th!!) is now totally stumble free, I should have done this 10 years ago!
You might consider doing this if your ignition gear is as old as mine was! I'm really glad I have!!
Merry Xmas all and very best wishes for 2014.
