Using an older Canton-Mecca filter mount, it uses a synthetic media and is a nice fit for the tiger as the filter changes from the top. It's a non bypass type as well. At some point I spoke with the folks at Canton's tech support and they gave me wrong information when I asked which way the oil should flow as I had conflicting reports. The of course gave me incorrect information. On all the Canton synthetic elements the oil flows from the INSIDE OUT, not like a conventional pleated filter.
So with the initial incorrect information I plumed my oil sender to the center of the filter, was an nice easy one for a change. Guess what that measures the pressure before the filter. So if the filter clogs up, guess what, pressure reads great! So had to do the task of moving the sender to the front where the thickness of the case is, well, thick. I also cut back the outlet fitting, some O-Ring fittings are way too long for the housing and can actually hit the filter. This was an official Canton-Mecca fitting so not too bad, some room for improvement, so I sanded it back a tick just for fun.
Disassembly. drill, pipe tap, sterilize everything, reassemble. Not to bad...
Well maybe. Their could be now an issue pass the radiator hose past the sender.... Oh well, at least I'm getting good at cleaning the filter housing. The size of the housing may be OK for another attempt but it's a bit thinner and curved. Will have to take apart and inspect the wall thickness for tapping after I get the Radiator in and try routing the cooling hose from the T-stat to the Radiator inlet.
