Currently my Tiger is running 13 inch 205/60 tires (or tyres as we would say ) on Magalite rims ( made in the same factory and very simaler to Minilites )
I'm pretty happy with the set up except that the tires are quite fat and the spare is really to fat for the trunk (we would say boot) meaning the floor won't sit flat .
I would like to replace just the spare tire .
What tires are people using and does the rolling raduis of the spare have to be the same as the other tires . I'm using 165 13 inch radials on my Series V Alpine

The rolling radius of the spare should be as close as possible to the other tyres...it can be narrower..but if it's smaller radius it can damage the diff

I'm not sure where you're from but you might want to consider the odds of needing a spare tire. How often do you or have you had a flat tire that needed to be changed? If properly taken care of and you avoid taking the car into areas where you could puncture the tire you could use a standard Sunbeam steel wheel with a 165 to 185 tire. I noticed at the recent United in N. Hampshire that many cars had a spare that fit under the floor but were a standard Sunbeam wheel with a different size tire than the tires mounted on the Panasports or various other brands of wheels on the ground.

I've been in the same situation for decades- the 'floating' floor- and it hasn't ever been an issue. Because the P.O. carpeted everything, I don't even hook the trunk floor at the back. Super easy to just take the entire cardboard piece out if I need to access the spare or the battery. And, to the point above, I've never used the spare. I rationalize that 'tis better to have the spare the exact same size (and meatiness) as the other tires...who knows how long you'd have to run on that skinny spare? My 2 cents.

I know of one Tiger that carries a donut spare from a Ford.

I would not be comfortable running around without a spare in my Tiger’s trunk. Too many things can go wrong. It does make sense to keep the rolling diameter for the spare to match the others for the reason Michael stated. My car has original LAT 70 wheels on all 4 corners. Even though I have a 5th LAT 70, my spare tire is mounted on the narrower stock steel wheel. The spare has the same tire as what I am using on my Tiger. Even so, there is a bulge in the wooden platform in my trunk and it takes some effort to secure the fasteners. So will the tires you are running on your Magalite rims fit on the standard steel wheels? I did not see where you mentioned what wheel you are using for your spare. Are your Magalite rims much wider than the stock steel wheels? Good luck with solving the problem of getting your trunk platform to get flat.
