What is best way to clean the wax residue off SS windshield rubber seal

Trying to clean the protective wax off a new windshield rubber seal (new from SS guess 5+ years ago). There is a lot of this wax and it is tough stuff. So far have tried: Simple Green, Dish soap, lacquer thinner - all not getting the stuff off. Any sugestoins would be greatly appreciated..
