Fuel Cell Mount

Trying to sort out the Tiger's fuel cell and mount. I made this a long while back to bolt to the car and to the fuel cell. Time for the rubber to meet the road as they say.

Marking it up to catch the ridges in the trunk. Which also is far from flat. Will need to fix that with Mr. Sledge Hamner to get it flatter so the base of the mount will be flat.

Need to mount each side of the base to the trunk with a bunch of counter sunk screws. Pain but need the base secure.

Also need to check trunk latch and fire system's halon bottle fitment before final position of the fuel cell is done.

Sandy always great work and interesting fabrication, I'm beginning to think your scope creep has turned into inadvertently building a GT2 sillouette project 😂😜

Thanks, it's not pretty sometimes, but just trying to keep it moving so someday I can scare myself in the car ;) I think the scope creep is slowing, most of this is stuff that I had made a while back but finally getting to the fitment state where I can put it all in, fit it up, see what has to get hit with the grinder and move on to the paint of the insides. Once done, put it all back and move to the next fun part. Just takes a long time for some things. The fuel lines wasted 2 weeks of time, parts only to go back to my original plan. All in a day's work as 'they' say. No GT2 for me, just need to get it to Willow for some fun, and Bob's Big Boy Friday night now and again.

Sandy,
One of my Alpines with one of Tom Patton's fenders off his GT 2 car. Your car could probably turn the tires required. My Alpine would have a problem.

Nice, he has some wide tires on his. Generally can't have a tire that's too wide ;)
Doug was doing work on the fiber glass panels of Tom's car and since my wife always tells him to "just fix it" he decided to just set it on the car before I stopped in. He had removed the rear fender of our car so this one just set in place. I said no!

Almost done with the mount and plumbing. Needed a 3/16" x 1 1/2" x 20" spacer for the rear of the mount since their is nothing under that section of the mount. oddly I have nothing that will work so McMaster to the rescue will be here today. Notch cut for the Halon bottle, removed all the old cracked muffler mounts, and finally the fuel pump, filter mounted and plumbed as well.

Once all done can remove it all and start wire wheeling to get ready for some black paint. Need to remove tail lights and wiring and get at it with the wire wheel and then some chemicals to remove the old grease....

Also received the tank vent filter, a nice tiny air filter for the vent line. Bolts right to the -8 bulkhead fitting, easy for a change.
