Shifter Boot

Was going to have to find someone to stitch me up a shifter boot. Then while wasting time looking for parts for a Range Rover on Amazon some generic shift boots popped up and I was on my way. Found a couple that looked OK, problem was that some were made out of PU Leather? WTF is PU Leather, well after researching a bit I found out that PU is Poly Urethane, so basically plastic and flammable. But came across some 'real-leather' ones with a suede finish. Seemed like worth try before I have to get someone on a sewing machine.

The trans tunnel is in 2 pieces, and easy to deal with out of the car. The base was from a modified Joe's Racing boot assembly that was just too big. So the base plate was modified for the Tiger tunnel I had.

Next step was to get the fitment of the boot over the aluminum base plate. I added to the base plate some new male snaps from a marine supply house using a nice and easy electric Milwaukee pop rivet gun (getting lazy in my old age).

I added the snaps to the leather one at a time to ensure a tight fit, the snaps for the leather side were done with a crimper/rivet tool I had picked up from a marine supply store as well as all the stainless hardware.

Last picture I just tossed in into place. The location of the drivers kill switch box is also getting sorted out, I think it will go behind the support as the tunnel with the boot is too small for it.
