I bought this Mark 1A about a year and a half ago and have now just begun it's rescue. I have posted a picture of the car as purchased after sitting for 10 years in the PO's garage. You can see the exaggerated fender flares which were basically totally built up Bondo. The car came with a spare rust free, Alpine Series V shell to use as replacement sheet metal as needed. We first gutted the car by removing the engine and interior. Then off to the body shop where the other picture were taken last week. As it turns out, my bodyman decided the best way to start was to completely remove the whole rear skin of the car and replace it with the donor Alpine rear quarters, valance and trunk lid. He cut the flares from the front fenders and replaced them with the donor fenders to obtain the original fender well design. He is now working on making everything fit, filling and sanding the body, getting it ready for primer with a target date of mid December. I'll keep you posted as work progresses.
