Vintage “club” style headers

I apologize in advance if this needs to be in the Modified Engine section. I am hoping some members can shed some history on the Tiger headers I picked up last year on CL. These appear to never have been installed and are without any markings from bolting to the heads nor any dings or dents. This design looks like a “Lakes” style exhaust with a traditional 3 Bolt triangle flanged collector as well as an additional non flanged collector that angles near the collector (Smallish 1 1/2” diameter) that is in alignment with the factory exh routing. Obviously these 3 bolt collectors would be “Uncapped” for an event or race?
My concerns are what other members may have used for a leak resistant coupling with these models if anyone is familiar with these? The slip fit pipes seem to have minor exh leaks unless you use an exh clamp which crushes them slightly and near impossible to remove when disassembled. The stainless band style clamps work okay, but have leaked with my current OEM cast iron manifolds configuration. I can weld on a ball cone style flange similar to a fox body header as well. I just need to figure this out prior to having the headers coated. Or, just sell them and buy some more modern CAT SS headers if in stock?
I will post some pics tomorrow when I am back at my buddies shop where the Tiger is. We recently jumped off the deep end and disassembled the car for a repaint in the original “86” green color. Thanks for any guidance and I hope everyone has a great week going forward...

I've used a pair of 'V' bands clamps in my system and they're awesome. No leaks and no issues to take apart ...

I have a set of 'newer' style CAT headers in mild steel ( ceramic coated )and I highly recommend them!

Thanks for the reply’s, please move as necessary. Really hoping for some background on this version of headers. Really do not appear to have a great flow path if using the original routing of exhaust?

OK, I'll take a stab at WHAT they are.

My guess is: the last CAT repo of the LAT 73 headers.

Most likely made in the mid to late 1980s.

The CAT "Club" headers had the same primary tube shapes with a shorter collector,

with a BETTER, but far from perfect, output alignment for the pipes going through the X- frame.

Vintage Club Style Headers

+1 what DW said. I bought a set of the CAT reproduction LAT 73 headers in the late 80's. The first attached photo is of my father posing with the nearly complete engine with the LAT 73's in 1993. Back then I thought I would be doing some racing, so wanted the option of opening up the blocked off collector. I never did... so the second photo is about 25 years later... with the CAT stainless headers installed.

If anyone is interested in the repro LAT 73's (Jet Hot coated) I still have them and am willing to part with them.

Bill
