No, initially they used 3.07s. During the testing they dropped a valve hitting red line before hitting top speed. They tested 2.88s and decided to make the switch. I've heard the early production cars actually had 3.07s until Salisbury could provided the 2.88s. don't know if that's true or not.
During testing the T-10 was replaced with a toploader (along with the whole MkII package). The toploader is what's in it now. But that could change.
From what I've been told, Rootes tested the Webasto sunroofs for use with the GTs. When they decided to give up on the GTs that apparently ended their need. I have not found information linking this particular Webasto roof to Rootes' testing program nor to 003.
