Front wheel well color

If I understand correctly, the inside of the channel in the attached photo gets painted black.
Please confirm.

Thanks

Paul yes a satin black in there and up the vertical face .. Pics coming soon.

Re your previous question. The seam sealer in the inner guards is original and stop water getting into the fitch panels and sills... But there was an underseal applied as well then misted over again with body colour.

Ok.
One other question. Were the seat mounting rails (welded to the chassis) painted black as well?

If you happen to have a copy of Chris McGovern's book "The Classic Sunbeam" then you'll find some interesting photos of Alpine body production. There are photos of the cars going into the paint tunnel and after paint. This starts on page 43 and continues on page 44 and 45. If you have the book " Sunbeam Alpine and Tiger" written by Graham Robson you find photos on page 46 of the three sub assemblies prior to being welded together. These photos might help understand the paint process of the cars. Too bad the photos aren't in color.

Ok. The a pillar drain painting. The car in this photo has the paint slightly waiver than the other original paint car i had pics of.. That said the other was a 86 code sqaure corner car... So maybe the darker colour and maybe a fresh masking stencil helped on the later car :p

Thanks Michael. That is much clearer to m.
Do you know if the seat frame mounting rails welded to the chassis are painted black?

Paul if you mean the folded metal paets that go over the step between the front and rear floors that the seat runners bolt to they are bosy colour

This is what I found when I stripped mine down. I'm sure it's original and was told they came that way from the factory.

Plus one on the seat tracks. Yet to see carpets pulled at a United event to check though ;)

Apologies.. Im wrong. As with most of the bracketry and additional bits its a satin black.
Brain fade on my part.

I mixed up the step and the seat tracks.. Whoxh is good i didnt add the additional info of confusion which was the vynil covering... That goes on the step.. I had almost posted it went over the floor seat mounts....

Dale posted a very good shot of a resto he was doing a year or so back that showed the interior without seats in.

Apologies for the mislead on the paint there.. My bad... Must be old age creeping up... Or not spending enough time round the cars for a while!

I greatly appreciate everyone's input. I am a rookie rapidly becoming a veteran. A total restoration will do that.
