Throttle Arm V2

In testing of the modified throttle arm, I found that it still had some movement when just getting to the end of the throw on my linkage set up. Granted I have some stiff return springs and a bit odd angle for the pull on the carbs throttle linkage.

So while thinking about the one that I have from Robert and the way he did it, I decided to modify it a bit and use two locking collars instead of one. The original one had the arm TIG welded to the top of a split collar, where my cutting edge design uses two on each side of the arm.

I did some CAD, sent it to SEND CUT SEND and had a variety of arms made just so all sizes and thickness were covered. Also had to meet a minimum order so just made a few in each style.

The Tiger's gas pedal uses 3/8" rod, so I made a simple jig out of a long bolt to get things square and aligned properly. Then hit it with the MIG welder, really needed to fire up the TIG but seemed like a lot of work, and I was lazy the day I did this so some blobby welds were in order. I drilled out some holes in my arm just for fun, should have had them in on the laser cut, would have be easier...

Collars were 3/8" Id split collars, with weldable steel and from McMaster.

My carb is connected with a Lokar cable that has a 3/16" clevis on the end so I used a thicker arm that fits a bit nicer then the thin ones that were also made.

I have a bunch of spare arms in both thick 0.188" (3/16") and thin 0.135" with C/C lengths of 3.75" and 4", send a PM if anyone needs one, limited supply, while supply lasts, and I reserve the right and all that...

I did this mod, using a single collar a couple of years ago, and if you have not seen the entire assembly, Sandy had pics on his site

Should change the title to Throttle Arm V3

So getting back to work on the Tiger as I was on hiatus while the car was outside wrapped up so I could sell another car.

Decided to install the new throttle arm, and guess what. it's not the same length as a stock one. The fabricator that did the firewall must have shortened it a bit to clear the support bracket that he made to tie the car together. Never thought to check it. The stock Tiger has a Center to Center length of 3.75" and the one I have is 3.25". So it seems another order to SendCutSend is going to be done. To make the minimum order I also made some new stock length ones with the holes pre-cut. I have plenty of arms in a couple of lengths now (4.0, 3.75, and 3.25). If anyone needs one shoot me a DM.

This also changes the throttle ratio so using the Top hole on the carb lever would be a long pull, this now makes some sense why the second hole seemed better travel with the shorter lever. All in a days work as they say.

Back to the grind!
