How about that the use of stock wheels has been discouraged. The "stories" I heard was that they could fail. Or there's the colloquial term. Everything was going great till the wheels fell off. Also heard the same prone to failure about the old cast aluminum or magnesium wheels.
Now let me think about it do I want to go fast into a corner turn the wheel hard plow forward till the car decides to turn, hmmmm nope. I was thinking spot welds and not ones with a discernable fat bead hence my widened statement. Push them to 5.5 or 6 and it'd be hard to tell without a tape measure. Oh and a lot of them looked like this at one time most likely.
