Hi all,
I posted a couple of weeks back about a Tiger that I had known for may years that had recently become available, well today was the day I drove it home!
All was fine until the gauges, brake lights and flashes all quit, I thought "welcome back to old Brit cars Paul!" :D
It is a nice unmolested original car, all is there right down to the Autolite 2100, the motor has never been opened.
Has some rust along bottom of the right rear quarter, as well as some bubbles in the paint at the bottom trailing edge of the right front fender, but we got it up on a lift at my buddy the rusty Ford restores place, and even after full borescope and ice pick treatment, everything else is original and solid. It appears to have never seen our winters, thank the Tiger Gods for that!
Now I'll begin sorting it out and refreshing, the owner for the past eight years was very nice but not a car guy so he just let it sit, much work ahead.
Here are a few picks, I'll join CAT and make it all official, now if I can just figure out what happened to my flashers and gauges???

Cheers,

Paul

PS. I had to rent a trailer to bring home all the spare parts that came with it, the trailer was full, I post pics over the next few days of my haul!

Looks great! congratulations. I just picked mine up in June and basically doing what you are. In the process of going over everything that needs attention and clean up.:D If you can, I would love to see a photo of how your washer bottle is mounted to the inside of the right front wing. My car did not have one and I haven't seen how they are mounted or what I need if I get one.
Thanks
Dave

Looks like a great car, everything appears to be there...Gauges Still Lost, Simple...FUSES!

Great looking car.. are the mirrors original talbot berlins or ASM? have that correct period shape vs the majority of repros

Ah yes , Joe Lucas is a name you will become very familiar with .!
Love the car , welcome to the madness !

Thanks for all the kind words guys!
Got the gauges and lights working again, fuses looked fine but there was corrosion, cleaned the contacts and replaced the fuse all is good (for now? :p)
I worked on it last night, solid little car in surprisingly good original shape.
Will need some attention though, mostly the interior and a top, valve stem seals and maybe also guides, it had sat for a long time. I'm also getting a rattle from the front suspension, I'll have to check that out.
I see evidence that bubba has visited, huge big valve on the heater hose near the carb, hope it doesn't mean leaking heater core?

The mirrors are old ASM, they've been on the car for at least the 15 years that I've known it, could they have been from '66?

Cheers,

Paul

PS. Dave, I'll try to grab yo a snap of the washer bottle and bracket later today, there is also presently a thread on washer bottles in the general discussion section.

Reminds me of driving my first Tiger (turned out to be a Alger) home. Was newly married and had just traided in my 1959 Bugeye plus $7000 (financed) for a total of $16K (1993) for my first Tiger. 1/2 way home the car died....long story short, turned out to be a bad coil...anyway, my bride was not happy with my new car that could not make it 40 miles to our house.

BTW... You have a Lockheed brake booster which is a aftermarket item. MUCH better than the Girling booster, I have a Lockheed on my Tiger.

Paul its quite possible they were on when new... they were a good quality period mirror..and nice to have on the car, much better than 99% of any of the repros.

Great looking

mirrors. One of the failings is when hung in the standard spot on the door in a tight garage it bang with your hip or anything else walking by. After several oops it works the sheet metal screw hole too big to hold the mirror well, then comes the fun of removing the door panel to thru bolt it. The wing mounted mirrors aren't for everyone but as a dealer or P.O. installed item you are lucky to have a nice set. That is a interesting heater valve on the car.
Now the real sickness begins the borderline O.C.D. habit of new Tiger owners collecting the correct bits to adorn the corners and recesses in the garage:D
